Meet Matt Hailes

Here’s Matt! He leads our on-site implementation team and is a remarkably calm and reassuring presence around the office – let’s find out a little more about what makes him tick:

Who are you?

I’m Matt, I live in Brisbane with my wife, two kids, and a couple of dogs. I spent 16 years in professional services, 6 years with dealerships and my second anniversary with Titan just clicked by in July.

What do you do?

I look after our on-site installation team, helping establish new clients and onboarding new dealerships for existing clients. In addition to the setup, we also provide training and support to make sure the dealership teams get up and running on the DMS as effectively as possible.

I’ll point out that this is made so much easier by the fact I have a great team with a lot of dealership experience, so they can really understand how dealerships actually use a DMS, not just how it should be in the manual!

What do you love most about your profession?

Seeing the progression in dealership teams from nervousness about a new system at the start to advocacy at the end of the project is great. Helping people see the benefits an enterprise system can bring to their jobs feels like you’re being helpful. I know that sounds a little “company speak” but genuinely, when someone says “Ahhh, that’s going to be so much easier now” I feel like that’s a win.

What do you most like about working for Titan?

The people. They’re a good bunch in here; we enjoy our team lunches and socialising and it feels like it’s just good people all trying to do their jobs well.

Can you share a recent success story that really made your day?

Finding out that our recent installation at 3 sites for the Grand Prix dealerships was rated at 9.5 out of 10 by their Group Financial Controller. The team got some awesome feedback too & that really made my day.

What is your superpower?

I can always seem to find a reserve of energy or resilience when a project gets hard.

What’s the best piece of advice you have for anyone in your profession?

Always trust your instincts (only if you have good instincts of course!!).

What are we likely to find you doing outside work?

I like heading out on my motorbike, up to the Glasshouse Mountains and Sunshine Coast usually. I also enjoy cooking, which I think my family appreciates, and the rest of the time I guess it’s the typical family things and a fair bit of yard work with an obligatory beer at the end.

Tell us a book we should read, a film we should watch, and a podcast we should listen to.

Book – “La Cucina – The Regional Cooking of Italy” – it’s full of incredible recipes!

Film – “Hitman” with Timothy Olyphant. I played the game for a few years and the film felt like a great follow on from that.

Podcast – “Hamish & Andy” – great fun, especially the “Power Moves” section.

Sum up a great team in three words.

Driven, Caring, Supportive.

Thanks for playing along Matt!
